When I start to paint, I ask that I be given the ability to paint a picture so that others can see the beauty that I see. It might be color, symmetry, reflection, subtlety, light, or drama. Every work is an exercise for me because I am working to develop the skills that lead to mastery. Sometimes the painting insists on being what it wants to be in spite of what I do.
 
— and when a painting is done I am always in awe that something now exists that did not exist before.
